Senior Project Engineer-Building Enclosure Services

Terracon has a career opportunity within its Facilities (www.terracon.com) division to join a team of professionals including engineers, architects, and building enclosure professionals

Position is for our Raleigh, NC location.

Essential Functions & Duties:

  • Plan, organize, & supervise design engineering activities for a major project, or several projects of varying size & complexity.
  • Approve or prepare reports for relatively complex projects, making appropriate recommendations as necessary.
  • Able to prepare reports using Microsoft.
  • Participate in development of marketing strategies & formal presentations of qualifications to clients on various projects in area of expertise
  • Overnight travel may be required with this position.

Other Duties:

  • May direct technical staff on project work as necessary in handling difficult projects where failure of firm’s quality control could occur, or where project has become involved in litigation.  
  • Provides technical review of project-related reports & written analysis for quality control purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture
  • Minimum of 10 years of field experience.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer/Architect by examination in at least one state in the US is required.
  • Registration as a Roof, Waterproofing or Exterior Wall Consultant is preferred.

Job Summary

Performs post-sales technical support to ensure projects are carried out in compliance with company standards.   Ensures company commitments under warranty and maintenance agreements are met.  Provides technical advice to the sales force to resolve product or service requests regarding technical issues.

Major Responsibilities

  • Sales Training: provide internal sales staff training on responsibilities pertaining to product knowledge, safety and auditing.
  • Contractor Start-ups: execute projects by meeting with the relevant parties involved in conjunction with the sales rep to review the specifications of the project, deliver onsite product and compliance training.
  • Monitor Progress of Projects: represent the company on the project site throughout the job to provide technical support to the contractor, verify the quality of the installation, complete any documentation required (inspections, job completion reports), communicate with customers, reps and contractors as required.
  • Inspections:  perform routine inspections, perform preventative maintenance, check roof to make sure system is working properly and ensure any problems are corrected.


  • Post-secondary diploma in building science, civil technology, construction technology or any other relevant field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the construction industry
  • Roofing experience is an asset
  • Must possess intermediate level proficiency with MS-Office Suite including Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated focused on results, with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with the team.
