JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is one of a licensed Professional Engineer with architectural and structural design experience.  The focus will be on the structural review and approval of panel construction design.  Recommendation of alternate design approaches for optimization, and the recommendation of products will be part of the daily function.  This role will also serve as advisor to the design and management team on continuous productivity improvements without loss of accuracy or completeness, technical recommendations regarding components of products and systems, and engineering specific components of projects including stamping of details and shop drawings.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a Professional Engineer license in a minimum of OH, or in another state with ability to get licensed in Ohio as well as several other states.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of design and engineering experience in construction, metal building and preferably metal roofing and siding.
  • Essential Functions
  • Review all project shop drawings for engineering and design accuracy. 
  • Create customized details for projects such as screw connections, expansion clip design, snow guards, and panel design.
  • Coordinate work load with design staff to ensure all shop drawings and related items are completed on schedule.
  • Consult with EOR, architects, roof consultants and installing contractors on design parameter issues/questions/concerns.  Make appropriate recommendations for the design and execution of the roof and wall panel systems.
  • Aid in the testing and applying test results of roof and wall panel components and accessories to job orders.

  • Performs roofing, waterproofing, and building enclosure field observations and/or testing as directed.
  • Prepare field reports related to construction activities observed in the field.

    • Preferred to have 2-3 year’s experience in the roofing, waterproofing building envelope industry or 3-5 years in general building construction
    • Familiarity with different roofing, waterproofing, and building enclosure systems
  • Ability to use AutoCAD to draft plans and/or details will be a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License - Company Vehicle will be provided for travel to local (within Texas) project sites
  • Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Position is for Houston, Texas with possibility of other Terracon locations including New Orleans.
