Discover Dallas' greatest natural resource - the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Set beside White Rock Lake in sight of downtown's gleaming spires, the arboretum features 66 acres superbly landscaped with towering trees, fragrant gardens, and lush lawns that beckon visitors into a serene and beautiful world. From the gorgeous blooms of springtime to the vivid colors of fall, there is something to see year-round. As guests explore the grounds, they also discover fountains, sculptures, two historic mansions, and much more to delight the eye and refresh the spirit. Built on the 44-acre former estate of petroleum geologist and oilman Everett Lee DeGolyer, the historic 21,000-square-foot DeGolyer House is the focal point of the arboretum. This elegant Spanish Colonial-style revival mansion is now a museum offering guided tours of DeGoyler's study and other rooms filled with art and furniture. After a guided tour through the gardens and the handsome DeGolyer House, guests enjoy a light box lunch in a reserved setting of Rosine Hall, also located on the arboretum grounds and overlooking beautiful White Rock Lake. From the more than 2,000 varieties of azaleas in the spring to the countless colors of chrysanthemums in the fall, the splendors of these gardens are a must-see when visiting Dallas.
