Those who desire to become a Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC)
must substantiate certain requirements before qualifying to take the REWC
exam. These requirements include documenting levels of work experience
and education, and offering proof of high ethical standards. The Application
for Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC) document guides
the applicant through this process.
Verification of an applicant's work experience is done using a point system. A minimum of 100 points is required.
The applicant must have at least six years of exterior wall consulting experience. The applicant must also possess a minimum of 150 hours of continuing educational hours through attendance at a minimum of three seminars within the roofing, waterproofing or exterior wall industries. Credit will be given toward this requirement for advanced degrees and professional licensing.

An REWC Application must be received, along with the appropriate fee, by RCI Headquarters 90 days prior to an exam. The application fee is $225 for RCI members and $300 for nonmembers. Applications received between 60 and 89 days prior to an exam will be accepted with a late fee of $50 for members and $75 for non-members. Appropriate payment in full must be submitted with the REWC Application. Applications will not be accepted less than 60 days prior to the selected exam date.
After the completed application has been returned to RCI and approved, the applicant must submit a registration form for a specific location to take the exam (this form will be provided with application approval notification). Registration for a specific exam should be received at RCI no later than three weeks prior to that exam. The cost of the exam is $175 for RCI members and $225 for non-members and should be submitted with the registration form. An authorization letter and exam site regulations will then be sent to the applicant shortly before the exam.
The approved applicant is responsible for all travel arrangements associated with the exam. Approved applications are valid for two years and reapplication is required if the applicant does not earn the REWC title within that time period.
Finally, to qualify for the REWC registration, the candidate must complete the written exam and earn a satisfactory score.
REWC exams are offered annually at the RCI International Convention and Trade Show and at other times throughout the year. Consult the Exam Schedule above or the RCI Events Calendar for the current schedule.
